STEAM 2020 Artist Lecture with Nathalie Miebach
February 14 4-6pm
At The Pensacola Museum of Art | First Floor
Description
Join us at the Pensacola Museum of Art with visiting artist Nathalie Miebach! Nathalie Miebach explores the intersection of art and science by translating scientific data related to meteorology, ecology and oceanography into woven sculptures and musical scores and installations. She is the recipient of numerous awards and residencies, including a Pollock-Krasner Award, TED Global Fellowship, Virginia A. Groot Foundation Grant, and two Massachusetts Cultural Council Fellowships. Her work has been shown in the US, Canada, Europe and Australia and has been reviewed by publications spanning fine arts, design, and technology. She lives in Boston. The STEAM2020 Exhibition and Colloquium is a community-centered, educational experience engaging contemporary art with science and new technologies through a ten-week program of art exhibitions, lectures, workshops, film screenings, artist residencies and a one-day colloquium with speakers from around the globe. The artists and speakers of STEAM2020 challenge narratives of human ecologies and offer exciting insights into transdisciplinary processes. The STEAM2020 Colloquium and additional STEAM2020 events are free and open to the public. For more information on STEAM2020, visit uwf.edu/steam2020
