Fiesta Pensacola Closing Reception and Gallery Talk
Join us in celebrating the final weekend for Fiesta Pensacola’s 75th Anniversary Retrospective Exhibition, on display through Sunday, April 7th.
At 6:00 pm on Thursday, April 4th, costume designer Glenn Avery Breed will be giving an artist talk, discussing his process and experience in creating some of the costumes on display.
Glenn Avery Breed is an acclaimed costume designer for opera, musical theater and other specialty productions. As the resident costume designer for the Pensacola Opera, Fiesta of Five Flags and Janiec Opera Company at Brevard Music Center, he creates original costume designs for more than 10 stage productions each year. He is as passionate about teaching as he is about theatrical design. Having taught at UWF since 2006, he helped establish the University’s costume program, which is attended by students from all over the state. By immersing students in a professional training program, they develop the skills they need to succeed in the industry. All of the students Breed has trained in costuming are working professionally. Before coming to UWF, he was the resident costume designer for West Virginia Public Theatre for five summer seasons and more than 40 productions. He was also a designer and technologist for Ensemble Theatre, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, The State Theatre, Public Domain Theatre, Chautauqua Theatre Company, Austin Musical Theatre and Austin Playhouse. He is owner of Wardrobe Witchery, a full-service costume design, construction and rental company. His costume designs were recognized by the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival with the Distinguished Faculty Costume Design for “The House of Bernarda Alba” in 2008 and “A Piece of My Heart” in 2006.
