Adult/Teen Workshop: Realistic Drawing with Crayons
July 18, 10:30 am to 1:30 pm
Description

Escape the summer heat in our air-conditioned art museum!
Join artist Kenneth H. Jordan II for a 3-hour workshop on Saturday, July 18, 10:30 – 1:30.
In this workshop, the humble crayon is transformed into a tool for creating professional, realistic drawings in color.
You will learn various techniques in using crayons, such as layering and blending to achieve depth in shading, as well as rendering details and textures. Develop your observational drawing skills, and discover the potential of crayons, an accessible material that will defy your expectations.

This workshop is designed for adults and teens ages 16+ and is open to all levels of experience; however, basic drawing skills will be very helpful and are highly recommended. Pre-registration is required in advance, and all materials and supplies are included in the cost. Participants will receive their own box of crayons to take home with them to continue drawing!

About the Instructor:
Kenneth H. Jordan II is a contemporary Southern American artist and art educator from Pensacola, FL. After earning his B.F.A. in 2015 from the University of West Florida, he maintains a local studio practice here in Pensacola. Kenneth works primarily in crayon and pushes his wax medium in a new direction within the realm of contemporary realism, exploring themes related to spirituality, personal narrative, the human figure, and family. His current body of work navigates the space of personal relationships and the impact they have on perception in life.
Be sure to see Kenneth’s artwork, currently on view in the Poetics of Painting exhibition, located on the second floor of the Pensacola Museum of Art until August 9, 2026.
