Description

The art of collage is about collecting, combining, layering and transforming imagery into your own personal artistic expression. It is an art form for everyone. Come explore the contemporary world of collage, and learn practical tips and tricks for working with different types of adhesives along with their various applications. We’ll also be investigating a range of techniques for introducing both simulated and actual texture into your collage work to help you find your own style in creating mixed media collages. If you attended this workshop last year, please note that we’ll be exploring new materials and introducing different techniques that were not previously covered.

Stretch your imagination by playing with and layering a variety of materials and techniques. You’ll leave this workshop with fresh inspiration and a finished collage to take home. No previous experience is necessary for participating in this workshop! All materials and supplies are included.

About the Instructor:

Marcia Wagner has been creating art since college in the 1970’s. For over 20 years, Marcia was an art teacher in Massachusetts and in Virginia, teaching at a small museum school and then in the public school system. After retiring in 2019 and moving to Florida, she realized how much she missed teaching art and returned to teach for the Pensacola Museum of Art in 2022. Marcia has a small art studio in her home where she creates in her art journals daily. As a keen student of art history, she finds modern and contemporary art most compelling. She believes that creativity is important for artists of all ages. As an art teacher and practicing artist, Marcia has found exercises in creativity are imperative to keeping her lessons innovative and her own artistic practice fresh. Also, her students affectionately call her ‘Ms. Messy’.
