Aesthetics of Decadence: The Prints of Aubrey Beardsley

March 1 -

May 5, 2019

Exhibition overview

Aesthetics of Decadence: The Prints of Aubrey Beardsley features the work of one of the most prolific and fascinating artists of the 1890s London avant-garde. The exhibition includes over one-hundred forty line block prints from the collection of Dr. Patrick M. Rowe. Beardsley’s work, which displays ingenious compositions and delicate manipulation of line, is often associated with the Art Nouveau movement, which evolved during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Accompanying the exhibition is a catalog and a sibling show of Beardsley’s work at the University of West Florida’s campus art gallery (TAG).
