Gregory B. Saunders: Drawing in Three Dimensions
On view: September 26, 2025 – January 18, 2026
Reception: Friday, November 14, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Gregory B. Saunders’ current exhibit at the PMA explores the use of light, space, form, and shadow through mixed-media assemblages, carvings, and sculptures. In his work, he incorporates found objects, hurricane debris, fly tying materials, coal, stone, shells, and artifacts such as arrowheads. Accompanying his sculptures are sketches, poems, and self-made tools. Visitors will discover unique stories embedded in his work that originate from the hollers of Appalachia and flow downstream to link up with the Gulf of Mexico.
Saunders says, “while my two-dimensional work treats drawing as mass, my three-dimensional pieces treat sculpture as line. These three-dimensional ‘drawings’ give me an opportunity to explore an abstract response to concepts outside the representational realm.”
